The 5 best affordable art fairs to visit this year
WordsMegan Lambert
If you’re reading this, we’re going to assume you’re an avid art lover. And that for you, there’s nothing quite like the buzz and excitement of an art fair. Getting up close and personal with some of your favourite creatives’ work, perhaps even getting to meet a few, not to mention a roster of talks, events, and some good snacks along the way. Oh, and of course—actually buying some art. With creative industries already underfunded, the pandemic dealt a heavy blow to the art world. That’s why, with events back up and running, we think 2022 is the year to support our local artists by attending some of the best affordable art fairs the UK has to offer.

Not exactly an art fair, but art school exhibitions are a great place to find up-and-coming artists work at a fraction of the price. We’d recommend the RCA, Goldsmiths, Chelsea College of Art, Leeds Arts University, and Glasgow School of Art for starters. This is where you’ll find artists as they’re just emerging, so it’s really about picking pieces you love. Who knows, you might unearth the next Hockney.
