The place where grown-ups play: connecting with nature at Treehouse Hotel, London
An eco-conscious, biophilic design hotel with 360° views across central London? Be still our beating heart. Created with the idea in mind that a hotel stay should evoke as much fun and adventure as a child's treehouse, Treehouse London is a place for grown-ups to play. Brought to us by the eco-conscious 1 Hotels, its brand of luxury, sustainable hotels has made its way to our capital—and we’re obsessed. According to Barry Sternlicht, Founder & CEO of the group, “the concept for Treehouse Hotel has been living in my soul for many years. A special place that feels more ‘home’ than ‘hotel’—cosy, welcoming, and somehow familiar. An oasis after a long day that at once refreshes, inspires, and delights”.
Transforming an uninspiring ‘60s office block into a magical treehouse hideaway, just off Oxford Street and one of the city’s biggest thoroughfares—it is nothing short of miraculous. Whether you’re here to drink, dine, dance or sleep, their aim is to connect their guest with nature.
With its mix of biophilic and industrial decor, it succeeds in marrying its urban location with its eco-friendly ethos. The interiors are filled with nostalgia and little vintage touches, like a record player in your room. Up on the 16th floor, The Nest boasts the hotel’s best views and despite a wraparound balcony, there is nothing cold about this room. Unobstructed light streams in from all angles and warm, boho decor style Persian rugs cover the warm parquet flooring, whilst mix-matched cushions and colourful sofas create little broken-plan living nooks to curl up with a good book (of which there are plenty) or toast the day with a sundowner come sunset. And of course, there are plenty of trailing indoor plants.
